Review
GTKRadiant is a map and level designer originally created by Id Software. The purpose of GTKRadiant was for users to have a tool to create new maps and levels for Id's games such as Quake and Quake II. The newer versions of GTKRadiant are being developed and maintained by the Radiant Community. GTKRadiant 1.5 is the latest version of this map editor; the next one will be called ZeroRadiant (which will be version 1.6).
GTKRadiant is the editor of choice for most games developed by Id Software, but it is also excellent for other games based on the Quake engine. The program supports games like Doom 3, Half-Life, Quake (1 to 4), Prey, Wolfenstein, Jedi Academy, among others. The source code for the level editor is freely available as well, allowing more game packs if needed. The level editor is one of the most powerful out there, yet simple to use. It has the power of an editor such as Hammer, but making it simple as well if you know what you are doing. The compilation is always stable and very quick. It is no mystery why this is still the editor of choice for many people, and why there are so many of its variants. |
- Lots of resources for different games.

- Some bugs with textures in the windowed mode.
